Outcome of the AVID College Preparatory Program on Adolescent Health: A Randomized Trial
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a college preparatory program that seeks to disrupt academic tracking, a process by which students are grouped by prior academic performance. AVID groups together middle-performing with high-performing students. In an RCT, participation in AVID was associated with better outcomes, related to health behaviors, social networks, and psychosocial wellbeing.
