E4A seeks to fund research that will support evidence-based decision-making in designing and implementing population health programs and policies. For research to be actionable, it needs to answer questions in ways that establish causality.

At E4A, we’re constantly thinking about change: the relationship between changes – how health outcomes change in response to policy or practice changes – how to measure those changes, and how to account for other things that are changing at the same time (one type of confounding).

Data is at the heart of quantitative public health research. We spend our days analyzing the relationship between exposures and outcomes to figure out what makes people healthier.
