Seventeen states require people under domestic violence restraining orders to relinquish their firearms. If all 50 states had such requirements, 120 lives could be saved annually.
Nine states have "may issue" laws that give authorities some (versus no) discretion in issuing concealed carry permits. If all 50 states had such laws, 885 lives could be saved annually.
